Huw Llewelyn Conway Jones
Huw Jones has over 20 years in the field as a guide, specialising in safaris in remote and beautiful bush. With experience in most national parks and protected areas in Zambia as well as Tanzania and other countries in the region, his wealth of knowledge and depth of character are unique!
Huw began his safari career in the South Luangwa National Park in 1989. He led safaris and managed a series of bush camps and lodges for well know bush pioneers Norman Carr and Robin Pope. Huw was introduced to Africa by Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers whom he met in 1988. Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers, both Hollywood actors and wildlife campaigners, found their love of Africa after playing the roles of George Adamson and Joy Adamson in the film 'Born Free'.
Huw is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and holds an MSc in Environment and Development. He founded the 'the Virtual Doctors' in 2007, a UK charity that connects rural health workers in Africa, where there are no Doctors to Doctors in the UK for diagnosis and treatment advise.
Africa Spectrum was created with a view to encompass the link between wildlife and adventure on the one hand and solidarity and helping people in rural Africa on the other. See Social Responsibility
