A true wilderness the North Luangwa National Park has a wilder edge compared to the South Luangwa, with slightly different vegetation and topography. The park is also home to Black Rhino, protected by a long running German zoological project. This Wilderness area is also home to some of Africa's most iconic animals such as lion, leopard, elephant and hippo as well as over 400 bird species recorded. The North Luangwa compliments the South very well and the two parks are well worth a combined visit for contrasts of wilderness, game and topography.
